When I get around to it I'm upgrading my Spotify account so I can skip all the ads. Radio ads are shit and for good reason. Radio advertising is on the whole, pretty poorly regarded in the ad world. You don't get to go on shoots and meet celebrities - as you would TV. You don't get to impress your mum/dad/girlfriend/boyfriend with a billboard. And you can't do something whizzy on your iPhone in front of all your mates down the pub. They’re last minute, no money briefs that nobody wants to do. Spotify radio ads are appalling.
Oh the examples; the Lynx effect that makes Jessica Jane Whateverhername sound like a call centre drone. The Accenture recruitment ad that asks you to read the banner at the same time. Oh and last but not least: the Peugeot ad that seems to have been banged out in the studio by the client and account team over a bottle of rose.
But the Metropolitan Police Service ad for domestic violence is good. Really good. So good it makes you feel a bit sick - especially if you've ever heard anything similar in real life. The ad is simple. Just a couple screaming at each other, as if heard through the living room wall. Then the man beats the shit out of woman and you hear every, single plea and moan.
The only version I could find from the Met's own website. It's not as good because it uses characters to dopily explain everything, but have a listen and imagine they're not there.

Incidentally, I don't know if the Met do this, but in Bristol they have a dedicated response team for domestic violence calls. It seemed to be made up of older policeman who acted like benevolent father figures and they were great.
